Shoots Calendar - what's coming up in the near future
If you plan to attend or want more information, email bkulon@hotmail.com. Please indicate your name, cell phone number, and where you will be coming from.
These events are an opportunity for enthusiastic photographers to gather to share insight and techniques while getting an opportunity to spend a few hours in a picturesque venue when the “time is just right”. The Shoots are intended for intermediate and advanced photographers. These “birds of a feather” sessions will not be instructional per se, giving you the freedom to maximize your photo yield. On the other hand, if you need some specific help, you will be amongst folks that will be happy to share their knowledge.

NEO Shoots Group Get-Together

This meeting will start with a screening of a few segments of Michael Reichmann and Jeff Schewe's "Guide to Adobe Camera Raw" Photoshop Video followed by a discussion of what we saw. We will continue this every time we get together until we get through the 7-hour series.
Segments to be viewed at this meeting include:
- #5 Camera Raw and Photoshop Differences
- #6 Use Bridge or Photoshop as Host?
- #7 Setting Preferences
- #8 Camera Raw Anatomy and Histogram
- #9 The Basic Panel
Also, if the group consensus wishes, we have the brand new Lightroom 2 instructional video from Jeff Schewe and Michael Reichmann as well as a hands-on copy of Lightroom 2. We could take a quick look and see what is in the offing. (Hint: LR2 is so promising that I (Bob Kulon) will be making use of LR2 as my main workflow tool. Adobe finally got it right.) |
We also share images and plan the next shoots. Held at Bob Kulon's home - address and directions provided on private request only. Email bkulon@hotmail.com. Bring a few prints, files, and ideas. We have calibrated High Definition viewing capability.
If you have attended a NEO Shoot event since the last get-together, you will normally be sent a private invitation via email. (Please forgive any errors of omission.)
If you been detached from us for a while (or your invitation email never reached you) but still want to attend the get together, just say so - you are welcome.
Either way, an RSVP is appropriate. |
Please confirm your intended attendance with an email to bkulon@hotmail.com.

"Street Scenes" Field Clinic II
West Side Market, Cleveland, Ohio
Presented by
DSLR Boot Camps
Due to popularity, this clinic will be repeated.

Street Photography combines the human element interacting with the surrounding environment. But - this is not really as simple as "point and shoot" if you really want to do it well. Preparation and contemplation need to be balanced with the ability to make the most of quickly changing conditions.
We will get into the techniques of available light street photography at one of the best people watching places Cleveland has to offer.
Limited to 6 Participants. Rain or Shine.
Please confirm your intended attendance with an email to bkulon@hotmail.com.

Presented by DSLR Boot Camps
Select locations across Northeast Ohio
Session #1 — October 23-27, 2008
(This is a commercial event

- how to attaining the best sharpness in the field
- making panoramas
- macro techniques
- basic compositional and exposure techniques
- preparation and maintaining good photographic attitudes.

The Amish Farm Shoot and Banquet
This year, as last year, we will offer you a truly awesome experience. On Thursday, an optional extra day, we will go down to the Amish Country (around Sugar Creek, Berlin, Trail) to shoot the fall color & harvest, as well as enjoy some shooting in and around an Amish farm.
Last year we had full access to the property as well as some set up shots of the Amish with their buggy as well as animals.
What could be more fitting than to end this perfect day with a catered Amish Farm meal! This family has a facility across the street from their farm that caters Amish Family style cooking, where we will be able to enjoy dinner, after the day’s shoot.
This is an opportunity that few have been able to experience and one that should be a truly memorable event. If you can’t make the Amish shoot on Thursday, you are as always encouraged to attend the remaining weekend workshop here in the Northeastern area of Ohio.
The workshop this year will be broader in scope, more organized, and limited to one weekend. This workshop is not yet full so move quickly. Times will be from sunrise to sunset.
Here is a rough outline of the agenda...
- This workshop will cover what is considered the best proven venues available in NE Ohio for Fall Photography.
- It will be offered as a discounted full package (still at $295) or a la carte (at prices indicated below)
- The workshop will cover 5 days as follows:
- Thursday 10/23 – Amish Farm Tour and Dinner (Sugar Creek & Holmes County) - $120 a la carte
- Friday 10/24 – Beaver Creek State Park (East Liverpool) - $75 a la carte
- Saturday 10/25 – Mill Creek MetroPark (Youngstown) - $75 a la carte
- Sunday 10/26 – Holden Arboretum & North Chagrin MetroPark - $75 a la carte
- Monday 10/27 – undiscovered parts of Cuyahoga Valley National Park (Peninsula) - $75 a la carte
- The hub of the Workshop will be located in Streetsboro.
- Personal cartage in a comfortable spacious vehicles is available from the Streetsboro hub for $25/day, while space lasts.
- I am now accepting Visa and MasterCard as well as personal check.
- I am eager to discuss the possibilities with you. As you can see, we have flexible and varied schedule. Contact me at bkulon@hotmail.com.

Fine Art Photo Greeting Card Production
Clinic presented by Bob Kulon
and DSLR Bootcamps
Brunswick, Ohio
Session #1 — 10/21/08
(This is a commercial event
and highly recommended.)

Some people call them note cards; some call them greeting cards. There is a growing popularity in the creation of personalized cards
by serious photographers. This is for personal or commercial reasons. Maybe it is just for fun! Once you decide to go beyond the
drugstore prints and the drop‐in folders, there is a certain craft to producing hand printed, fine art miniature renditions of your
precious photos. Producing really professional‐looking greeting cards (AKA note cards) is an acquired skill that can benefit from some
insider knowledge. There are techniques and resources that can significantly reduce the trial and error.
We are offering a one evening clinic to cover the aspects of greeting card production in‐depth…
- DESIGN — how to use Photoshop to layout your card, creating aesthetic appeal
- PRODUCTION — how to print the cards on different types of photo printers and use color management
- MATERIALS — card stocks, inks, envelopes, boxes, bags, displays
- MARKETING — placing in stores, consignment, fairs and shows, holiday markets, sales tax
